The Sierra Club Youth Group of San Angelo is a non-profit environmental organization serving children, age 2-14, and their parents in San Angelo and the Concho Valley.
Our group lives by the insight of the great environmentalist John Muir: "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he [or she] seeks."

What We Do
- get children outside for unstructured fun!
- keep nature journals and post one of our kid's journal entries each month.
- learn about John Muir and work toward the Sierra Club's John Muir Youth Award by helping to protect wild places.
- meet for monthly nature walks on the last Saturday of each month at various locations: San Angelo State Park, San Angelo Nature Center Hiking Trail, Concho River Hike and Bike Trail, the Hummer House (in Christoval), etc.
- ask local experts to come along with us on some of our nature walks so that we can know more about the land and animals we see.
- go on an annual camp out in the Texas Hill Country on the third weekend of April to celebrate both John Muir's birthday (April 21) and Earth Day (April 22). Last year, we went to Garner State Park, and we loved it so much we plan to return there for the weekend of April 17-19, 2009.
Costs
- local membership is free!
- Children seeking to earn the John Muir Youth Award are required to join the National Sierra Club ($30.00 annual fee). (www.sierraclub.org.)
